Why are some violins so expensive??? I went into Peter Prier and Sons in Salt Lake City, where I put to the test a violin I bought off of Amazon for $62, and an antique Italian violin for $285,000. Scroll down for answers on what makes these instruments worth so much.

The first song I play is Hallelujah, and the second is AC/DC "Thunderstruck".

Supply and Demand: One reason the value of an antique Italian violin is so dear is because there are so few of them left, and they are no longer being made. Simple economics dictates that when there is a demand but little supply, value increases.

The Quality: Musicians have long believed that the antique Italian violins are superior to other violins in quality and sound. It’s believed that cooler temperatures from the 1200s to the mid 1800s contributed to a denser tree bark, making the wood that was used in constructing these instruments of a higher quality and offering a better acoustic.

They’re Fashionable: Owning an old Italian is a status symbol in the world of music, thus increasing its legend, value and price.

The Conion and History of the Instrument: Any of these violins are between 100-300 years old, making it an historical icon as well as an instrument. If the instrument is also in excellent conion, the value increases.

Adult beginner violinist - 2 years progress video

I'm a 24 year old adult beginner from Norway, and I wanted to see if it was possible to learn to play the violin as an adult. This is the first instrument I learned to play. This video is a collection of all the videos I recorded since I first started to play the violin. From week 1 until today. I didn't think I could get this far in the short amount of time I've played :) I didn't really expect anything when i started. I just wanted to try and see how far i'll get :) I'm mostly self-taught. Bobby Fischer's 21-move brilliancy

Bobby Fischer creates a chess masterpiece in only 21 moves against Robert Eugene Byrne, an International Master, at the 1963/1964 United States Chess Championship, held in New York. At 20 years young, Grandmaster Robert James Fischer was already among the world's very best chess players. In this brilliancy, Fischer demonstrates how to inject multiple imbalances into a highly symmetrical position, how to properly highlight these differences to benefit oneself, and how to accurately assess the true value of the pieces as they rest on the board. Stradivarius Secret Found By Texas Chemist

Music lovers around the world sing the praises of certain violins and cellos that were made more than 300 years ago in the small city of Cremona in northern Italy. The instruments made by Antonio Stradivarius, in particular, are highly regarded and the few hundred that survive today command prices in the millions of dollars. For many years craftsmen and scientists have studied these violins to find their secret. Now, a chemist in Texas claims he has already found it -- not in the structure of the instruments, but in chemicals used to preserve the wood.

Adult beginner violinist | 2 years progress video

I'm playing the violin for exactly 2 years now, so I collected clips from day 1 until today and I made this 2 year progress video. I always wanted to play the violin, but I thought I was too old to learn and that you needed to have some special talent to be able to learn this. Well, luckily I found out that's all nonsense. You don't learn this with talent, you learn this through hard work. I've had weekly violin lessons ever since the start and I practice about 1-2 hours a day, 4-5 days a week. Besides my daily technical...
