Video description
Falcon Heavy lifts off, the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two, with the ability to lift more than twice the payload of the next vehicle, at one-third the cost. Only the Saturn V moon rocket, last flown in 1973, delivered more payload to orbit.

Three cores make up the first stage of Falcon Heavy. The side cores, or boosters, are connected to the center core at its base and at the vehicle’s interstage. Falcon Heavy’s three cores are capable of generating more than 5 million pounds of thrust. For this test flight, Falcon Heavy’s two side cores are both flight-proven. One launched the Thaicom 8 satellite in May 2016 and the other supported the CRS-9 mission in July 2016.

Following booster separation, Falcon Heavy’s two side cores will attempt to land at SpaceX’s Landing Zones 1 and 2 (LZ-1 and LZ-2) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. Falcon Heavy’s center core will attempt to land on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

The payload for Falcon Heavy’s demonstration mission is SpaceX CEO and Lead Designer Elon Musk’s midnight-cherry Tesla Roadster. Demonstration missions like this one typically carry steel or concrete blocks as mass simulators, but SpaceX decided it would be more worthwhile to launch something fun and without irreplaceable sentimental value: a red Roadster for the red planet. Following launch, Falcon Heavy’s second stage will attempt to place the Roadster into a precessing Earth-Mars elliptical orbit around the sun.

SpaceX Starman Cosmic Journey: LIVE Ambient Music Mix

Enjoy the mesmerizing views of Earth from Starman's Tesla as it journeys deeper into the great void, while your consciousness drifts away on hypnotic waves of ambient music. To answer some common questions: 0) SHANE DAWSON! In a recent video, Shane showed a brief clip from the SpaceX live stream, calling it a "glitch" and saying that it showed the car inside a film studio. What the clip ACTUALLY showed was the inside of the payload fairing at the top of the rocket where the car was mounted, right before it opened up and exposed the car to space. A moment later...

Shuttle's Boosters Recovered in HD

NASA has released the first ever up-close, high-definition video of Kennedy Space Center's solid rocket booster (SRB) recovery ships retrieving SRB segments from the Atlantic Ocean following a space shuttle launch. The unprecedented video is from the launch of the most recent shuttle mission, STS-133, Discovery's final flight, on Feb. 24. Following each space shuttle launch, crew members of Liberty Star and Freedom Star pull the spent boosters out of the ocean and return them to Hangar AF at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Once they are processed, the boosters are transported to Utah, where they are refurbished and...

Moon landing with reusable SpaceX rockets in KSP/RO

What can you do with the Falcon Heavy? Well, a manned moon landing for example. You can download the craft files for each of the three launches here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cBcrZPUNkMn6xFOUZvcH-hTi_INLSMOO NOTE: Use this at your own risk, you won't be able to load these crafts if you haven't installed the Launchers Pack, KRE and SSTU (+ their RO configs). This was done with KSP 1.2.2 and Realism Overhaul including all recommended mods. Falcon Heavy and the Tesla Roadster Orbits, A Prediction

[Update: The roadster ended up going into a more eccentric orbit than predicted in this video, making it considerably further out than Mars orbit!] Clearing up some misconceptions about transfer orbits I've seen floating around (get it?) in the discussion of the Falcon Heavy and its Tesla Roadster payload. Also logging my prediction about where the roadster will end up. Any predictions, opinions, speculation or errors in this video are my own and do not reflect the views of any other party.

Tesla Roadster + Starman in Space, Orbiting Earth

Spending some time waiting for the boost that will move him to his final orbit. Starman is listening to David Bowie's "Life on Mars" but Youtube will mute it if I try adding that to this video. So, instead it's now "Mystery Sax" by Kevin MacLeod, another fantastic earth-based genius whom I'd like to thank for being so generous as to let people use his music for stuff like this. ‘Starman’ puts Earth in the rearview mirror – Spaceflight Now

STORY WRITTEN FOR CBS NEWS & USED WITH PERMISSION Now in an elliptical orbit around the sun, the Tesla Roadster launched atop a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket Tuesday during the powerful booster’s maiden flight was expected to pass beyond the moon’s orbit overnight Wednesday and reach the orbit of Mars in July as it puts Earth in its rear view mirror, analysts said.SpaceX founder and chief designer Elon Musk released a spectacular final photo earlier in the day from a camera on the rocket’s second stage showing the Tesla and it’s space-suited driver “Starman” outbound with an increasingly distant crescent...

A Tesla Roadster in Orbit: Not The Only Electric Motor in Space.

There is a parallel between the electrification of cars on Earth and the electrification of spacecrafts in orbit. Electric propulsion in space has been around for 50 years, but new technologies will soon allow lower mission cost, more space for cargo and, therefore, future space missions to further distances to explore comets, asteroids planets and more..

Falcon Heavy first landing

SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy Demonstration Mission launched from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A), Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 6 February 2018, at 20:45 UTC (15:45 ET). For its maiden flight, Falcon Heavy’s second stage will attempt to place the payload, Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster, into a precessing Earth-Mars elliptical orbit around the Sun. For this first flight test, Falcon Heavy’s two side cores launched the Thaicom 8 satellite (May 2016) and the CRS-9 mission (July 2016). Following booster separation, Falcon Heavy’s two side cores landed at SpaceX’s Landing Zones 1 and 2 (LZ-1 and LZ-2) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida....

FALCON HEAVY LAUNCH ANIMATION HD 2018 - TESLA ROADSTER!

When Falcon Heavy lifts off, it will be the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. With the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb)---a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel--Falcon Heavy can lift more than twice the payload of the next closest operational vehicle, the Delta IV Heavy, at one-third the cost. Falcon Heavy's first stage is composed of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores whose 27 Merlin engines together generate more than 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, equal to approximately eighteen...
