About the award:

For the 1927/28 Academy awards, the award was for engineering effects. There was no award again until 1938 where it was called a special award "for outstanding achievement in creating special photographic and sound effects. The very next year the award was combined with sound effects and called the Award for Special Effects. It wasn't until 1963 that the award became the Award for Best Visual Effects (which it is still called today). It was given every year from 1963 to present, with the exception of 1973.

All Changes Made to Star Wars: A New Hope (Comparison Video) PART I

A comparison video comparing all changes added into Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope from 1981 to this very day. This video is purely objective and I've refrained from making any kind of strong opinion on anything, its here to show off all the changes as far as I know of while presented in an organized, relatively chronological order of the film. That being said, the original Star Wars has received the heaviest treatment of changes out of all three, easily. Some minor, others more prominent and even infamous. This video was extra tricky since there are a number of...

10 Best Super Bowl Commercials 2018

Super Bowl is great and so are Super Bowl commercials. When you live in Europe like me, you can’t watch it live anyway because of the time difference and watching it later is not the same thing. But you can watch and enjoy the advertising which is crème de la crème. No wonder, the average cost of a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl is around $4.5 million and the average duration of these here is around 1 minute each. The Super Bowl LII presented by the National Football League (NFL) was on Sunday, 4 Februar 2018 with the Philadelphia Eagles...

Amazing Practical VFX - NO CGI - Introducing: SCANDINAVA

All footage was kindly provided by Scandinava. Check out Scandinava's website here: Using innovative techniques and real props, Scandinava makes the live image seem as if it were CG. In order to get the delicate shots of the buzzard without causing any harm or distress to the bird, Scandinava used a hidden mesh harness concealed underneath the birds' feathers with wires attached to each side of it to stabilize the birds' body. In order to get her to open her wings, they blew air at the bird from underneath which made her naturally open her wins to ride the artificial thermal. No...

Amazing Before & After Hollywood VFX Westworld

The amazing fabricated world known as 'Westworld' isn't actually that far from what you see on screen. Most of the scenes were filmed on location and aside from editing out a few pylons and adding a couple of mountains, not much was changed. Of course, the main work was done on the robots, obliviously, see for yourselves! Things Only Adults Notice In Jumanji

If you're new, Subscribe! → Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle turned out far better than anyone had any right to expect. What initially sounded soulless and cynical ended up being a massively successful, well-received, family-friendly thrill ride for kids and adults alike. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, the movie effectively built on the 1995 story about a magical board game with a video-game-based, body-swap comedy sequel. Welcome to the Jungle made a lot out of a wacky premise, but that doesn't mean it was perfect. Many of its quirks won't be picked up by younger...
